Bob Napp is a champion of small business. In 1992, Bob ran 14 quick oil change stores in central Tennessee. In 2004, he wrote a book, “Starting Your Own Business.” He consulted with small business owners to help them grow. Bob is a classic visionary.
But what really got Bob excited was his observations regarding small businesses and their operational needs. In particular, Bob noticed that “off site” storage demand was exploding in the United States as people have too much “stuff” to store in their homes and these people were flocking to self-storage facilities. That’s fine, but Bob also noticed that small businesses were struggling to find suitable locations to operate their small businesses that needed on-site storage.
Bob observed that residential self-storage with 5’x10’ and 10’x10’ units were being built like crazy for people’s furniture and what-nots. Speaking with his small business colleagues, they would say, “Bob, I have to rent four 10’x10’s to store my tools and equipment because that’s the largest they have. Warehouse buildings are way too big and they want long term leases, so I’m stuck.” (Bob’s story continues in the 7.31.18 post)
